Adult-use delivery restriction
Westborough said no … for now.
Adult-use cannabis delivery is temporarily restricted in Westborough under CCC waiver DW-2026-001, effective June 5, 2026 through June 5, 2028. At its May 26 meeting, the Select Board reviewed the town’s 2017 Town Meeting and ballot results, asked about delivery logistics, age verification, GPS tracking, and enforcement, and then voted 4-1 to authorize a waiver request. Four members treated the earlier prohibition on retail establishments as evidence of community sentiment; member Ian Welch dissented and questioned the consistency of treating cannabis differently from alcohol.
Delivery is blocked, but licensed pickup may still be available nearby.
The CCC’s official locator can search adult-use retailers by ZIP code and distance. A nearby store is a pickup option—not a workaround for delivery to Westborough.
The Board voted 4-1 to authorize the Town Manager to submit the adult-use delivery waiver request.
The Board reviewed the new state rule, waiver eligibility, enforcement, age verification, delivery logistics, and vehicle GPS oversight. Member Welch objected that the proposed policy treated cannabis and alcohol inconsistently; the other four members emphasized prior community sentiment and expected local impact.
